Pros: -Nice guy
-Willing to work with students
-Curves class
Cons: -HORRIBLE lecturer
-Way to much homework
Be prepared for this class when you take it. It will be tough.
^To the guy who says it was easy, I wish everyone was as naturally gifted as you. I have not yet met a single person who has said that lass was anything but hard.

Pros: This class really isn't that bad, but Nagy is not a very good teacher. He just reads from the slides. I stopped going to class about half way through the semester because I realized I could just go online and learn it. The tests are hard, but they are all online so it makes it impossible to make dumb mistakes. Either you know it or you don't. If you understand the homework, you will understand the tests.
Cons: Nagy is not a very good teacher.

Cons: Lecture style
Lecture style math classes are stupid in my opinion. I could never learn in his class. I went to class the first day and never showed up again. I got a 3.5 by teaching myself from his notes and the book. Take the later recitation section so you can talk to people who had it earlier. The quizzes and tests are the same in every section.

Cons: Online exams and quizzes.
Expect to work at the very least 6-8 hours a week on material outside of class, because you will not learn everything in lecture. The lecture consists of reading from the lecture slides, which are very brief. He often writes out notes with the slides, but rarely uploads them to the class page.Everything graded is done online which gives no partial credit, even on exams.

Pros: Everything available online.
The tutors at MLC are helpful.
You can drop an exam.
Cons: Lectures are not helpful.
Nagy reads off slides.
Nagy makes every attempt to make differential equations understandable, but fails.
He does get 3 stars for being receptive to student's performance in class.
Do the webwork and go to the MLC instead, only then will you understand the material.
Whatever you do, don't fail the final! It is worth 30-43 percent of your entire grade depending on your test performance.

Pros: Understandable professor.
The class is set up so a 4.0 is easily attainable without having to go to class.
Quizzes are very easy
TAs usually go over quiz material before quiz.
Exams are very easy.
Final is a breeze
Material is extremely important to almost every field in science, and will teach you a lot.
Cons: Didn't go into much depth. For example we didn't cover Fuchs's rule of repeated roots. Didn't cover as much of the theory. This course is for beginners. If you want a real math class, take the 300 level ODE course, and don't waste your money on this class.
I have no idea how so many people tend to do so bad in this class, the class is extremely easy if you are mathematically literate in any way.
How to succeed in this course: Don't go to class, read his lecture notes online the night before the quizzes, know how to do all of the problems on the lecture notes. Do the practice exams, you'll get a 4.0 on every quiz and exam.
I did the homework up until Laplace Transforms, and I find that doing the homework doesn't really help, I mean it's nice practice, but the lecture slides are all you need.
The professor is extremely well organized and will always reply to your emails promptly. His accent is not hard to deal with, and he is very understandable. Power-points + Math lecture usually don't go well together, but his power-points are set up so that you can see all of the steps performed one after another. Very nice. Then again, the class is just as easy to teach to yourself if you have a computer and can access the internet to his power-point slides.

Pros: Great notes
Very smart
Accent isn't that bad, really
Cons: Accent is kind of meh but again, not really that bad
Kind of a boring lecture
In general I liked Nagy. He was a decent teacher and very smart, knows what he's talking about. His notes are superb. He puts them online, so if you miss.skip lectures you can just go online and pretty much everything you need to know will be there. Although, if you aren't at all familiar with some standard mathematical notation (elements, sets, etc.) I would go on wikipedia and learn these basics, since he writes like that a lot. It's not hard to get, though
My only complaint is that this class was rather boring for the first few units, and the lectures were terrible. I could not stay awake to save my life, so I just stopped going, but again, thanks to his awesome notes, I was able to 4.0. I won't recommend him with the same gusto I might recommend someone like Zeidan, but if you get him, he's a good prof so dw. And his tests aren't that bad either.

Pros: He posts all lectures and notes online.
Really nice guy
Cons: I have a rough time paying attention in class.
Only thing good about Nagy is that he posts EVERYTHING online so you dont have to go to class. Sucks as a lecturer. you can barely understand him and he just points to his slides. Exams are do-able but the Final is what MAKES or BREAKS you.

Pros: He knows what he's talking about and most TA's as well as recitation are very helpful.
Cons: You almost need a prereq of art to be able to draw some of the shapes.
Not as hard as Calc 2. Never went to class and just did the assigned problems from the book for practice. There was a quiz every week which was quite easy and helped prepare for the exam.

He is a very boring professor. He has a very heavy accent and he reads off the slide show during his lecture. That is not how to teach math. If fortunately you have a good TA, then you will understand well, but if your TA like the TA I had, which doesn't organize his recitation at all, then I wish you good luck.
I learned the material on my own because I found reading the textbook helps me a lot. Some other students I talked to say that his lecture notes help them to understand the material. His lecture slides repeat a lot, and it is hard to understand.
Naggy's quiz and exam are very easy. As long as you understand the material and know how to the easy questions, you will be ok.

Pros: He is very helpful during office hours. His exams are straightforward.
Cons: His accent is the only thing that keeps me from rating him 5 stars
Make sure you do the homework and go to recitation because he gives 10 quizzes and you can drop the lowest one.
MLC helps a lot!! My TA is very nice too. I think his name is Chung Liu. He is very good at explaining stuff even better than Nagy himself!

Nagy him self is a very nice guy, you can talk to him outside of class and he knows the material well. I did not like his teaching in lecture, he lectures off of power point slide. I didn't like that he didn't work examples by hand. The best way to do well in this class is to go to the math learning center alot.

Pretty good prof. I got a 4.0 in the class, but that was because i studied my ass off to understand some of the material. He does mostly proofs in lectures or else really easy problems, which make it tough to do the harder problems on the homework, but his exams are very fair. The exam review sessions were very helpful as well so i would suggest going to those.

He has a bit of an accent but its quite tolerable and isn't terribly difficult to understand. His class is hard, but its the material that is hard, its not like he makes it difficult. All of his lectures are on powerpoints that he posts on his website to make it super easy to follow. You don't really have to go to class, but if you do go he adds a little something extra to every lecture that may help you understand it more. We had an exam or quiz in our recitation once every week but he never puts the really difficult problems in and doesn't try to trick you. Overall, very knowledgeable and I would recommend him.

First, his accent. It's not like it's impossible to understand, it's just that you have to work a little harder at it and i wasn't really willing to put in the effort to understand it. As a result, I was confused a lot because I couldn't pay attention. But that was my choice. I thought his notes were a little long and and difficult to get through at times, but the nice thing is that he posts them online so you can always go back to them. His tests are fair. I struggled a little in the class up until the last couple weeks, but that was my own fault because i really didn't put any effort until the final. Nagy is fine as a teacher...nothing extraordinary, but by far better than many of the math professors at MSU. I would definitely take him again.

He doesn't seem very friendly, but he is a good teacher and explains the material very well. The homework is not difficult and the tests all almost entirely based on it, so if you keep up, you should be able to get a good grade without too much difficulty

At first, it seems like Professor Nagy cannot teach what so ever, but once you sit through the lectures you finally realize that he is the bomb. Yes, he is a bit tough, but other than that if you put a little of effort and studying and your golden. His notes are clear and concise. Don't let the accent scare you. He is willing to explain things no matter what. he can take questions. I have asked him so many questions that he is willing to answer. Also, he has a very dry sense of humor, but I enjoy going to class and listening to the math lectures

Prof Nagy is the shit. I really like him, and although I was skeptical of him at first, he's a very good teacher. If you have a chance, GET INTO HIS CLASS. Barely any work, and if you understand the material, you can easily put this class on the back burner. Nagy is a down to earth, legit teacher. I would give him a 100.0 if I could.

This course is taught with a recitation class. Prof Nagy provides the lecture portion 3 days a week. He has a rather heavy Spanish accent, but he is easy to understand (in my opinion) and speaks English very well. His notes are Clear and concise, and he summarizes the chapters very well. He will gladly answer all of your questions, but the class is only 50 minutes and sometimes he will have to take your question after class in order for him to get through all of the lecture. He seems very nice, and his explanations are very thorough. depending on your previous math skills, you may need to put in more effort at home to understand the concepts. He condenses the chapters well, but they may include a few concepts at a time that require practice and understanding outside his lectures. If you are debating to switch, I would say Prof Nagy is a wise choice.
